A major headache for Equity Bank customers!
On November 1st, Equity Bank customers across Kenya faced a significant challenge with their mobile banking services. A system outage disrupted access to mobile banking, USSD, and ATM services, leaving many customers frustrated and unable to manage their finances.
The bank acknowledged the issue, stating that their technical team was working tirelessly to restore services. However, this didn't stop customers from expressing their concerns and disappointment on social media platforms, including the official Equity Bank Kenya Facebook page.
But here's where it gets controversial... Some customers questioned the bank's reliability and the frequent failures of their mobile banking app. Caleb Okari, for instance, demanded an alternative way to access funds, while Kennedy Juma expressed his disappointment with the bank's fully mobile approach.
And this is the part most people miss... Equity Bank had previously announced a planned six-hour maintenance affecting its "send money to other banks" service across its digital channels. The maintenance was scheduled for September 23rd, 2025, from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM the following day.
Despite the bank's notice, the recent system outage has left customers wondering about the root cause of these disruptions. Benjamin Miguel summed it up, asking, "Where did Equity go?"
So, what do you think? Is Equity Bank doing enough to ensure a seamless digital banking experience for its customers? Or are these disruptions a sign of deeper issues? Feel free to share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below!
